Craig Wright, who desperately wants you to believe that he created Bitcoin, made an appearance at an event hosted by the Financial Times this past Friday.
Vaudeville, the organizers said, is “where film noir meets performance finance.”
Craig Wright Berates Audience, Promises to Donate $8 Billion from Satoshi Hoard
FT’s own Jemima Kelly referred to the event as “The Fyre Festival of Finance.” The name harkens to Ja Rule’s Fyre Festival, a legendarily lousy music festival that turned into a nightmare for everyone involved.
At the event, Craig Wright gave a sermon.
He started by citing the New Testament Gospel of Matthew to explain that people are overly judgemental and intellectually lazy.
He ended by flashing the audience a middle finger and calling them “lazy f**king a**holes,” according to FT’s recap.
Wright insists that he is the man behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto and that he has access to the entirety of Nakamoto’s early Bitcoin stash, valued at over $8 billion.
He vowed that he will donate all $8 billion to charity – next year.
Assuming such a liquidation is even possible, the effect on the Bitcoin market would be unfathomable. He clarified that he is not referring to his Bitcoin SV, but rather Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
Watch Out, Mr. Bezos, the ‘Creator of Bitcoin’ Is Coming for You
“I have about 8 billion dollars’ worth of bitcoin and I’m donating them. Not as a joke. I’m giving them away. I want them to go to education. So my BTC are not going to go to me. I’ll keep my bitcoin — the bitcoin I created, the bitcoin I still work on.”
Wright claims that he wants the endowment to go toward education, the type of education that, in his view, works. Denigrating liberal arts and favoring hard skills, Wright reportedly said:
“I’m going to give it so that people in Africa can be educated, so that people in South America can be educated, so that people over here doing STEM — not stupid courses, real ones that lead to someone learning how to code, learning how to do math, not studying medieval dancing. And I had a girlfriend who did medieval dancing as a Masters so trust me I know how stupid it is.”
Last year, Jeff Bezos donated around $2 billion to charity. The world’s richest man will allegedly be outdone in 2020 when Wright’s Tulip Trust contract supposedly allows him to access all that old coinage.
Wright lost a bid to sue Roger Ver in the UK today. The hits keep on coming for crypto’s Trumpesque would-be thought leader.
